Welcome To
Channel Islands Bible College & Seminary
For
those of you logging on from a satellite campus.
This
Spring Semester promises to be an exciting time as we begin our tenth
year. God continues to bless the ministry of the school as
students become better equipped, and join others in leading
congregations in more meaningful service. We have ministered to
more than fifteen hundred students since opening our doors in the Spring
of 1999.
Channel Islands Bible College and
Seminary has initiated a new concept in Christian education - no tuition
or registration fees are charged. Such fees would prevent most
Christians from getting the training they need and desire. The
school is supported by contributions from those who have both the
ability and the desire to contribute. The high cost of college and
seminary training is no longer a valid reason for believers to not
become better trained in the use of their gifts to achieve effective
ministry.
Cost of operation is kept at a minimum by
using the facilities and resources of Nyeland Community Church, the
governing body. The faculty and staff are made up of volunteers of
qualified believers who have this grace conviction and share our vision.
Yet, a high standard of academics is maintained that is on a par with
Universities and Seminaries that charge prohibitive fees for the
majority of believers as we offer accredited degrees from the Associate
through the Doctorate.
Our Independent Studies Department
continues to grow. We now have around three hundred inmates in
California, Nevada, and Arizona prisons. We have an extension
school at the state prison in Lancaster, California. These inmates join
a growing number of pastors and church leaders from places like, Rwanda,
Tanzania, Ghana, Pakistan, India, the Philippines, and the United Arab
Emirates.
This past semester we partnered with
UCLA, and educators around the world, in focusing on providing education
to those even in the most remote parts of the world. In august we
began an extension school in the United Arab Emirates, at Dubai/Sharja.
Minnie and I visited there in December and the students are excited
about the opportunity. We hope to have them in class with us by
way of video conferencing this semester. We are awaiting the
installation of DSL at their church villa.
